Dear Valued NYC Patients and Families,

 

It is with a heavy heart that I write to inform you of the closing of Flatiron Pediatrics of New York City. This decision was not made easily, yet it is unfortunately the only way forward.

 

The first five years of our practice did not come without its hardships, but the immense reward of getting to see your children grow and thrive made it so worth it, and kept us going. As the business grew, we had some successful times and it was very gratifying for me as a business owner and as a physician. Unfortunately, when the pandemic started two years ago, so began a downturn in business the likes of which we had not previously seen. I have struggled to keep the business open by any means I could. We have seen countless families move away, all the while without any relief in rent, utilities and other costs. In addition, a series of unfortunate staffing issues, skyrocketing costs of materials and labor, and healthcare reimbursement rates remaining stagnant has made it impossible to run the practice. I am sad to say that there is just no feasible way to keep the doors open anymore.

 

Some information about our closing and how it will affect you:

• Our last day of operations will be June 25. Any appointments scheduled after that date will automatically be canceled.

• Please make sure to schedule any last appointments as soon as possible if you’d like to be seen before we close.

• After closing, I will be available to see patients at our Port Washington, Long Island location.

• Dr. Levine will be accepting new patients at her new practice, Elliston Pediatrics, here in the city. Dr. Maidman will be relocating to the Seattle area. Please see below for a note from them.

• If you would like to switch to a physician in the area, we recommend our trusted colleagues at Elliston Pediatrics, Gramercy Pediatrics, or Pediatric Associates.

I have enjoyed every minute of running this practice for the past eight years. Thank you for welcoming me and my staff into your lives, allowing us the privilege of taking care of your children’s health, and trusting us with your most valuable possessions.
